Announcements:

• Sunday, March 28th is the BSA Troop Swimming Test 2010 at North Georgia College University Pool from 2-4pm. Any scouts wishing to go canoeing in Spring with Troop or planning on attending Summer Camp needs to take this test. All scouts and parents are welcome.
  

• Next Monday Night (March 29th), we need to finalizes our Troop list of scout list for Summer. Parents, I would enjoy any scout to sign-up. It’s a wonderful learning adventure for a lifetime.

“Citizenship of the Nation” Merit Badge Classes (Lead by Kimberly & Chris Mihok) starts February 1st from 7:35-8:15pm at the Scout Hut. (For additional details or to sign-up, email Kimberly Mihok .

• February 1st: Pack 36 Webelos visiting Troop 303
• February 1st: Dahlonega City Council Meeting 6pm (See Kevin McCraney for details JKMCCRAN@southernco.com ) Jonathon and I are planning to attend Dahlonega City Council next Monday, February 1 at 6:00 PM. If you need to attend a public meeting for a merit badge requirement such as Communications or Citizenship in the Community, please plan to meet us there. The Council meeting will be held at City Hall behind the Park and Rec center at the end of Riley Rd. We will meet in the foyer outside the courtroom and go inside no later than 5:55 PM. Please bring a notepad and pencil to take notes since both MBs require you to discuss the meeting with your merit badge counselor. We plan to got to the Scout Hut after the meeting. Don't forget to wear class A uniforms. We're representing our troop! Thanks, Kevin

Troop 303 Scouts and Scouters,

Here are some details about the upcoming Advance-a-rama.

WHEN: Saturday, January 23, 2010
WHERE: North Georgia College and State University
BRING: Please bring at least one can of food to help Scouting for Food resupply some of the local food banks.

We'll meet between 7:30 and 7:45 AM in front of the gym. Please be PROMPT!

Lunch is provided at the NGCSU mess hall.

Parents please plan to pick up your son BY 4:30 PM. Please be PROMPT! Also, please be available by phone in case your son's class is released early.

If you have not signed up but are interested in taking a Merit Badge class it is not too late to sign up, however, time is running short.

Tuesday, January 19 is the last day! I must have your request to take a Merit Badge by Tuesday! Here are the classes available. Please note the Seats Available as several classes have already filled up.



For anyone interested (Scouts or Parents) there will be a Life to Eagle Seminar during the Morning Session (8:30 to 11:45 AM).

Troop 303 Annual Dues for the 2010 year are $62 per scout (2nd scout in same family is $45) and $15 per adult leader.

These troop dues cover:

• BSA annual registration fee
• Subscription to Boy’s Life for the Troops, other outdoor magazines and guide for books.
• Accident insurance per scout or adult leader
• Funds that go to the Troop Budget for equipment, gear, supplies, and individual awards during the year.
  

We need your annual dues ASAP. You may pay the full or break it into 2 payments of $31 each (The first payment is due before the December 7th and the second payment due on January 5th.) Only scouts and adult leaders that have paid their annual dues & their scout accounts are paid up will be chartered on January 14th.

• It’s time to start looking at next year and your role within our troop. We need to schedule a meeting after Christmas to discuss our next steps forward as a troop. Adults what about meeting on January 5th (Tuesday) at 6:30pm at the Scout Hut?

Announcements:

• Day Bike Trip is this Saturday, Dec 5, meet at the Scout Hut at Noon with your bike and helmet. We are going to the Ranger Camp and doing an eight mile loop. See you there.
• Dec 14th is the Christmas Bowling Match. We are meet at Scout Hut at 5:30pm for anyone needing a ride with the church van. Or you may meet us at Yonah Bowl at 6pm. Scouts in uniform bowl for free. We need a head count soon please let us know if you’re not coming.
• Scoutmaster conferences or Troop Board of Reviews in order to get advancement or merit badges processed in time for our next Court of Honor. Monday, December 14th will be the final date to turn in completed merit badge or rank requirements. NO EXCEPTIONS. Next COH is January 17th.

• Congratulations to Nick Chaput and Miles Clark for earning their Arrow of Light award. Welcome to Troop 303.
• Congratuations to Nick Chaput for getting his Scout Rank last night.
• Daniel Victorio will be talking to students on Wednesday during school. The 6th Grade Round-Up at LCMS will be Thursday, November 12th from 5-7:30pm. Please invite any friends that would be good scouts to come. Permission forms are attached. Also, Scouts please sign-up to lead something during the Round-up Event.

• Special thanks to Kevin McCraney and all the adults for taking our troop to the Fall Camp-O-ree this past weekend. Scouts who attended were: John Passman, Eric Niconovich, Justin Scott, Damian Mobley, Sam Barrentine, Trey Greer, Nick Chaput, Davis Gabriel, Greg Barber, Patrick Barber, Jonathan McCraney, and Ethan David. • Many of you need some community service hours. Here a great opportunity to service. On Sunday, November 1st at 2pm, the Lumpkin County Veterans Memorial Marker Committee is looking for help to place memorial markers & American flags along the roadways entering Dahlonega in remembrance of Veterans Day.Volunteers should meet at 2pm Sunday, Nov 1st at the old Folger's Hatcheryon North grove Street across Quick Lube.They will need help putting the marker over 450 up and in two weeks taking them back down.For more information, contact Hanson at 706-864-7221.

• We have a few boys needing an over-night camp-out for their rank advancement. Jennifer Head is working on coordinating an overnight camp-out for the Troop on November 23. Look for details to sign-up next Monday Night.
