Troop News & Updates (11/02/09)

Announcements:
  • Congratulations to Nick Chaput and Miles Clark for earning their Arrow of Light award. Welcome to Troop 303.
  • Congratuations to Nick Chaput for getting his Scout Rank last night.
  • Daniel Victorio will be talking to students on Wednesday during school. The 6th Grade Round-Up at LCMS will be Thursday, November 12th from 5-7:30pm. Please invite any friends that would be good scouts to come. Permission forms are attached. Also, Scouts please sign-up to lead something during the Round-up Event.
  • It’s time for our annual troop recharter! Our annual Troop Recharter is due on January 21st. Troop 303 Annual Dues for the 2010 year are $62 per scout (2nd scout in same family is $45) and $15 per adult leader.
These troop dues cover:
  1. BSA annual registration fee
  2. Subscription to Boy’s Life for the Troops, other outdoor magazines and guide for books.
  3. Accident insurance per scout or adult leader
  4. Funds that go to the Troop Budget for equipment, gear, supplies, and individual awards during the year.
  5. We need your annual dues on or before December 7th. You may pay the full $62 before December 7th or break it into 2 payments of $31 each (The first payment is due before the December 7th and the second payment due on January 5th.) Only scouts and adult leaders that have paid their annual dues and their scout accounts are paid up will be chartered on January 21st.
  • Special thanks to Kevin McCraney and all the adults for taking our troop to the Fall Camp-O-ree this past weekend. Scouts who attended were: John Passman, Eric Niconovich, Justin Scott, Damian Mobley, Sam Barrentine, Trey Greer, Nick Chaput, Davis Gabriel, Greg Barber, Patrick Barber, Jonathan McCraney, and Ethan David. Adults: Kevin McCraney, Paul Passman, Jeff Barrentine, David Scott, and Kathy Barber. The Troop won the knot tying competition and the 1st Aid competitions. Here are a few photos:
  • Many of you need some community service hours. Here a great opportunity to service. On Sunday, November 1st at 2pm, the Lumpkin County Veterans Memorial Marker Committee is looking for help to place memorial markers & American flags along the roadways entering Dahlonega in remembrance of Veterans Day.Volunteers should meet at 2pm Sunday, Nov 1st at the old Folger's Hatcheryon North grove Street across Quick Lube.They will need help putting the marker over 450 up and in two weeks taking them back down.For more information, contact Hanson at 706-864-7221.

  • FYI all scouts: Make sure you sign up soon for Scout Master conferences or Troop Board of Reviews in order to get advancement or merit badges processed in time for our next Court of Honor. Monday, December 14th will be the final date to turn in completed merit badge or rank requirements. NO EXCEPTIONS. Next COH is January 17th.
  • Jennifer Head is looking for volunteers to help selling ice cream floats at the Etowah Cub-mobile Races on November 7th.
  • Day of Merit is November 7th in Cumming (See Eric Niconovich for details.) http://www.meritbadge.info/mbn/EventDetails.aspx?ID=B5B16E04-3723-4F71-8F97-963288B8AD8A The Future Business Leaders of America at North Forsyth High School are hosting an FBLA Day of Merit on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • Pack 357 is looking for a Den Chief. If anyone is interested, in the leaders role. (See your SM.)
  • Summer Camp dates are confirm for June 27-July 3 at Camp Woodruff.
  • Airport Day is Nov 14th (10am-2pm) (see Chris Mihok for details.)
  • Our troop sent three Hero Boxes this week to individuals servicing in Afghanistran. If your family would like to support a Hero Box, call Dahlonega Baptist Church for details.
  • We have a few boys needing an over-night camp-out for their rank advancement. Jennifer Head is working on coordinating an overnight camp-out for the Troop on November 23. Look for details to sign-up next Monday Night.
  • If you would like to lead a Troop Outing, Event, or Merit Badge this year contact Roger Greer.
